Greer and Greer Independent Insurance works with The JC Goffe Foundation to provide scholarships and mentorship to disadvantaged youth in central Arkansas.
When you ask Jordan Greer, of Greer and Greer Independent Insurance, to name one of his heroes, he answers quickly — JC Goffe.
A friend since childhood, Greer saw firsthand how much adversity Goffe overcame in life, and how he thrived despite that. “He came from a very tough background, and he was able to bring himself up through that and become a successful entrepreneur and loving father.”
When Goffe lost his life to cancer several years ago, Greer and other friends and family members came together to build The JC Goffe Foundation. The Foundation is based on JC Goffe’s legacy of integrity, faith, humanitarianism and resilience, and its mission is to help disadvantaged youth in Arkansas.

An inspiring legacy
Like many kids, JC Goffe deserved better. Born and raised in Jacksonville, Arkansas, he faced many adversities that threatened to hold him back in life. But Goffe was a fighter.
While he could have easily given up, Goffe’s resilience and determination helped him overcome his tough beginnings and find his passion in life. Goffe started his own real estate company, Edge Realty, in 2016, establishing himself as a successful entrepreneur and pillar of his community. He was a volunteer coach for local youth sports teams and was also involved with the local high school.
“JC was all about giving back,” Greer said. “No matter how much success he achieved personally, his priority was always giving back to the community, and especially to kids with tough backgrounds.”
Working together for kids
The JC Goffe Foundation is a scholarship program designed to help children with tough beginnings realize their potential. The Foundation’s operating model is as efficient as it is impactful. It is run 100% by volunteers, which means the majority of funds raised go directly to students.
Funds are raised through an annual golf tournament fundraiser and rolling donations. Each year, local students submit applications that include transcripts, reference letters, personal essays and more. Then a scholarship committee selects recipients and travels to local high schools to present the awards.

Today, many Greer and Greer employees volunteer with The JC Goffe Foundation. From organizing the fundraiser to serving on the board of directors, Greer and Greer Independent Insurance employees are some of the nonprofit’s strongest supporters.

Onward and upward
JC Goffe Foundation scholarships help students overcome the tough cards they may have been dealt in life. They are able to feel a little more confident about college or trade school, knowing they have some help with tuition, textbooks, transportation and other expenses, as well as a community of people who have their back.
A Make More Happen Award from Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance would go directly toward scholarships for local students, helping to extend the Foundation’s impact on the community and continue honoring Goffe’s bright legacy.

The JC Goffe foundation helped my granddaughter her first year in college by awarding her a scholarship. This money was desperately needed and appreciated. My granddaughter is now starting her second year and will work hard to honor what was given to her. Thank you JC Goffe foundation. JC was an amazing young man and an inspirational role model.
