Because no child should be forgotten

Through a healing philosophy, Realities For Children provides emergency funding for children in Larimer County, Colorado, when all other resources have been exhausted. The organization supports the process of recovery through youth activities, critical item distribution and resources to their 40 partner agencies. They also work to break the cycle of abuse through special direct-grant programs and scholarships for the youth they serve.

Larimer County, Colorado, received nearly 6,300 reports of child abuse and neglect in 2021. And the pandemic has only exacerbated the challenges faced by at-risk, neglected and abused youth, as they struggle with isolation, increased anxiety and continued barriers to accessing services.

Fort Collins Insurance, an agency deeply committed to its community, has supported Realities For Children since 2021. “Our agency was concerned about the rising reports of child abuse and neglect in our community,” explained Jackie Jackson, the agency’s managing director. “So it was a no-brainer to support such an amazing organization that cares so deeply about helping youth.”

Fort Collins Insurance staff actively support Realities For Children throughout the year, volunteering at fundraising events and even initiating a Referral for a Cause program, where the agency donates to a designated nonprofit for every customer referral per quarter. Last year the agency donated $500 to Realities For Children through this program.

Brightening lives

During the holiday season, agency staff from Fort Collins Insurance go the extra mile to support Realities For Children. They volunteer at the Nightlights Tree holiday fundraiser, host a Santa’s Workshop donation bin at their office, and encourage clients and community partners to donate new coats, toys and gift cards for the children served by Realities For Children.

As one of 270 proud business members of Realities For Children, Fort Collins Insurance also helps cover the nonprofit’s administrative costs. This ensures that 100 percent of donations directly support the needs of vulnerable youth.

Bringing hope and healing to those who need it most

Realities For Children is constantly striving to make a greater impact in the lives of those who need it most. To that end, they are planning a healing sanctuary, a new center designed to support trauma and sexual assault survivors. Funds from a Make More Happen Award would be directed towards building the healing sanctuary and meeting the immediate needs of children who have been abused, neglected or are at-risk.
